ICAEW close to naming CEO successor

The ICAEW has been hunting a successor to Michael Izza for months, as a result of growing scrutiny of its performance

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is reportedly close to naming Alan Vallance as the successor to incumbent CEO Michael Izza, according to Sky News.

As it currently stands it is unclear whether Vallance, the current CEO of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), had been formally offered, or accepted, the post.

One Sky source also stated that the post could still go to another candidate.

Vallance has previously run the Royal Institute of British Architects and held a senior role at the Law Society.

He has been chair of the CII for 18 months with many questioning whether he would leave that role so soon.

The ICAEW has been hunting a successor to Michael Izza for months, as a result of growing scrutiny of its performance.

The body was criticised by industry professionals after Sky News revealed earlier this year that it was set to pay Izza a secret six-figure severance package despite announcing that he was retiring from the industry.

The ICAEW declined to comment when approached by Accountancy Today.
