The Association of Accounting Technicians has named vice president of the association, Kevin Bragg, as its new president at the 42nd AGM until October 2024.

In this role, Bragg succeeds Christina Earl, with Michael Steed due to take over his role as vice president.

According to the AAT, Bragg’s focus as president will be on the theme of employability, and will include upskilling AAT members and students with the skills needed for successful accountancy careers now and in the future.

Bragg will be working with employers and partners to highlight the role of accounting technicians and the benefits they bring to businesses of all sizes.

Sarah Beale, CEO of AAT, said: “This year, we re-evaluated our purpose in a post-pandemic world, leading to the launch of our new strategic plan in February 2023. We are already seeing elements of this new approach reflected in our annual report, which was presented at the AGM last week.

“Whilst there is still some way to go, I’m excited to look ahead to next year and beyond to continue to support our community at every stage of their AAT journey, ensuring they’re equipped with practical, relevant and in-demand skills fit for the real world and that they can keep pace in a rapidly changing business environment.”

She added: “I am also delighted to welcome Kevin Bragg as our new president. He has done an excellent job as vice president and I am confident that as president he will help to drive our new strategic plan forward, particularly on issues of employability and upskilling our community at every level. Additionally, I would like to thank our outgoing President Christina Earls for all her hard work and commitment.”

Bragg said: “It is truly an honour to be taking on the role of AAT president. I’m eager to get started and be involved at such an exciting time, following another strong year of performance and the launch of the 2030 strategic plan.

“I’m looking forward to connecting with as many people as possible across the AAT community over the coming year. I know I will meet so many inspiring people and already I can feel we’re going to make great strides towards our goals outlined in our 2030 strategic plan.”
