HW Fisher, part of Sumer Group, has acquired specialist medical accountancy practice Ramsay Brown, expanding its healthcare offering amid rising demand for sector-specific advisory services.
Ramsay Brown, which advises GP practices, consultants and Primary Care Networks, was founded by partners Laurence Slavin, Katie Collin and Anil Sookharry. The three will remain in leadership roles and join HW Fisher as partners following the acquisition.
The firm has built its practice around advising medical professionals and healthcare organisations on accounting, compliance and governance, particularly within the primary care sector.
Its clients include thousands of practitioners and organisations operating within NHS funding and regulatory frameworks.
According to HW Fisher, the deal would strengthen its ability to advise healthcare clients by combining Ramsay Brown’s specialist knowledge with its broader audit, tax and advisory services.
The acquisition comes at a time of continued pressure on general practice and the wider NHS, with healthcare providers facing complex financial and regulatory requirements.
Slavin said: “Joining HW Fisher and the Sumer Group represents a real opportunity to enhance our market presence and client capabilities. Working within the complex medical accountancy space, we are finding our clients are needing more support than ever before, and together with HW Fisher this represents a real opportunity to broaden the services we offer and support even more healthcare organisations and the vital professionals who work within them.”
Collin added: “Ramsay Brown has helped healthcare professionals navigate complex accounting challenges for decades, and we couldn’t think of a better partner to continue this legacy with than HW Fisher. Healthcare policy changes are coming thick and fast, so specialist support is becoming ever more vital for those operating across the primary care sector.”
Andrew Rich, managing partner at HW Fisher, concluded: “Their deep sector knowledge represents a natural extension to our existing practice offering, enhancing our services and meeting the ever changing and complex needs of our clients. We are all acutely aware of the financial strains the NHS and healthcare professionals are under, and we are proud to support the team in their continued growth.”
