Grant Thornton UK has promoted Matt Flowers and Mirza Ahmad to partner, strengthening its audit and financial services practices.
Both based in London, Grant Thornton said Flowers and Ahmad bring “extensive experience and deep sector knowledge” to their new roles.
Flowers will focus on the firm’s private capital audit team, with a particular emphasis on the technology and media sectors. He joined Grant Thornton as a graduate in 2010 and has spent his career in the London Audit practice.
Meanwhile, Ahmad focuses on regulated businesses within the financial services sector specialising in investment management, private equity and brokerage businesses. He joined Grant Thornton as a graduate in 2009 and now leads on a range of statutory and regulatory assurance engagements for large financial institutions.
Flowers said: “Having spent my career at Grant Thornton, I’ve really valued the opportunities for growth and development. The firm’s commitment to progression, from graduate to Director and now Partner, has been outstanding.
“I’m excited to continue building our private capital audit offering, especially within the fast-evolving technology and media sectors. These industries present unique challenges, and I’m passionate about helping businesses in these spaces achieve their strategic goals.”
He added: “A key priority will be expanding our team and client base, while continuing to deliver the high-quality, collaborative service our clients expect. We’ve built strong specialist expertise in this space, and I’m looking forward to taking that even further.”
Ahmad said: “I’m excited to take this next step in my career at Grant Thornton – a firm I joined as a graduate over 15 years ago. What drew me in then, and continues to drive me today, is our strong culture of collaboration, commitment to quality, and support for our people and clients.
“I’m proud to work with some of the most dynamic businesses within the financial services sector. As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, I’m focused on helping our clients navigate complexity and supporting their growth. Looking ahead, I’ll continue to grow our assurance capabilities and support the development of our next generation of professionals.”
