Business advisory firm Quantuma has been appointed to handle the administration of Yorkshire-based logistics operator Humber Services, which ceased trading earlier this year.

Joint administrators Andrew Watling and Simon Campbell from the firm were appointed on 1 August to handle the case.

The Rotherham-based company, which provided “white glove” logistics services for furniture retailers across the UK and Europe, had stopped trading several months before entering administration and had no staff at the time.

Founded in 2018 and trading from 2020, Humber Services faced cashflow difficulties following a dispute with a major customer. The breakdown in the relationship led to non-payment for services and counterclaims for non-performance.

After creditor action, the firm was at risk of liquidation and the secured creditor moved to appoint administrators to take control of the situation.

Andrew Watling, managing director of Quantuma and joint administrator, said: “It is extremely regrettable that Humber Services was forced to cease trading, due to a series of challenging circumstances. This was a sad ending for an established company.

“As joint administrators, our immediate priorities have been to seek to obtain maximum value for the company’s creditors.”
