Warwick-based Pentlands Accountants and Advisors has revealed that its managing director Elinor Perry has marked 20 years since taking over the business.

Perry completed a management buy-out of the firm in 2005, just six months after finishing her final Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams.

Since then, Perry has grown Pentlands into a team of 12 business consultants serving more than 250 clients in Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond, across professional services, hospitality and property.

She celebrated the milestone with a summer garden party at Mallory Court Hotel and Spa in Leamington. More than 120 clients, colleagues and friends attended, enjoying cocktails, canapés, and games of croquet, giant Jenga and draughts.

Perry said: “Not many people starting out in a new profession are given the chance to own and lead an already established business. It was hair-raising at times, but I have loved every minute of it.

“Key to my success – and I would say this to anyone starting out in business – is building relationships with your clients, your suppliers and your team. That means equipping yourself with a coach and mentor, helping your team to develop and grow, but also helping clients to truly understand their numbers, enabling them to identify growth opportunities while mitigating potential risks.”

She added: “We are anticipating further growth over the coming years. One of the trends that has been gathering pace since the pandemic has been advising more owner-managed businesses on long-term exit strategies; whether that is preparing for a sale or minimising taxation when handing family businesses down to the next generation.”
