National accountancy and business advisory firm MHA, the UK member firm of Baker Tilly International, has promoted Liam Hammond to partner within its Leicester office’s audit team.

Celebrating nearly two decades with the firm, Hammond joined as an audit trainee in 2006 and has steadily progressed through the team ultimately leading to a director level promotion in October 2020 and now partner.

His client portfolio ranges from small owner-managed businesses to large multinational groups across diverse industries and sectors, including distribution and logistics, pharmaceuticals and hospitality. He also specialises in pension scheme audits, offering in-depth knowledge and assurance to trustees and stakeholders.

Shelley Harvey, engagement partner for the Midlands region and fellow audit partner in MHA’s Leicester office, said: “Liam’s promotion comes hot on the heels of those of Sally Burford and Sam Hyman-Charlesworth who became audit directors late last year. This trio of promotions is testament to how MHA, as a people first orientated firm, continually develop and nurture our people to realise their ambitions.”

Hammond added: “From the moment I joined MHA they have supported and developed me throughout my career, identifying my ambitions early on and providing opportunities to progress. I look forward to being able to support the next generation of apprentices and graduates joining MHA as they embark on their careers with the firm.”

Within his new remit Hammond becomes a key member of the firm’s senior management team for the Midlands region, which includes Birmingham and Leicester.

Chris Barlow, audit partner in the Birmingham office and chief operating officer for MHA’s Midland’s region, said: “Liam’s promotion to audit partner is well deserved, and recognises the expertise that Liam contributes not only within the region but across the firm and underlines MHA’s commitment to developing its staff.”
