Professional services group Leonard Curtis has announced the appointment of Liz Welch as a director to strengthen its restructuring and turnaround team in Birmingham.

As a qualified accountant and insolvency practitioner with over 20 years of experience in corporate recovery, Welch spent 14 years at what was formerly Duff and Phelps, where she became a director as the business transitioned over to Kroll in April 2021.

She brings “extensive” experience of trading companies in administration across various sectors, including retail, hospitality, manufacturing and automotive, having handled accelerated mergers and acquisitions (AMAs) and sale of business processes.

Conrad Beighton, director and head of Midlands at Leonard Curtis, said: “She brings invaluable experience to the team and to attract someone of her reputation is a great win for us. She will help us take the Birmingham office and the wider region to the next level in size and scope.”

Welch said: “I am incredibly excited to join Leonard Curtis, and I look forward to the opportunity of working with the team to help the firm continue to grow in the Birmingham market.”

Dan Booth, CEO of Leonard Curtis, added: “Liz’s appointment further strengthens our insolvency practitioner expertise across the UK, which is recognised for its proactive, effective approach to problem-solving with business owners in distressed companies across multiple sectors.

“She will help us to continue to provide best in class advisory to companies based in the region. We wish her every success in the role.”

Leonard Curtis employs 13 people across the region and has offices in Wolverhampton and Worcester, as well as Birmingham.
