UK accounting and advisory firm MHA has announced the appointment of Peter Carville as partner to its Financial Services team.

Carville joins MHA with more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector, including a career at one of the Big Four accountancy firms.

He is a corporate tax specialist but drives delivery for all services to his client base. He also takes a “hands-on” approach to tax compliance and frequently collaborates with HMRC on disclosure and enquiry matters.

Carville has worked with a wide range of financial service institutions, including commercial and investment banks, challengers, trading platforms and asset managers.

Additionally, he has extensive experience in-bound international tax and business transformation. His technical knowledge includes advising on profit and capital attribution, bank taxes, withholding tax, SDRT, securitisations and treasury tax matters.

Carville’s appointment brings the total number of tax partners at MHA to 38, operating from 20 offices nationwide and two offices in Cork and Dublin trading as Baker Tilly.

Carville said: “MHA has seen consistent growth and has earned a fantastic reputation in the industry. They prioritise people, both clients and employees—striking the perfect balance between being a leading player in the market and offering a personalised service. I’m excited to begin this new chapter with the firm.”

Rakesh Shaunak, partner, and group chairman at MHA, added: “I am delighted to welcome Peter to MHA. Our firm is committed to adapting to our clients’ evolving tax needs with expert knowledge in a constantly changing and often complex environment. Peter’s appointment will enhance our ability to meet these challenges.”
