Resolve has announced that partners Simon Jagger and Ben Woodthorpe have been appointed as joint administrators of Brick Live International Limited on 12 September 2024, and are now seeking a buyer for the business and/or its assets.
Brick Live specialises in Lego, other toy bricks and brick-based sculptures, supplying sculptures for events and tours around the world, many of which give participants the opportunity to interact and engage in building activities.
These events have taken place in a variety of locations internationally, including the UK, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA. Many of the exhibitions were maintained on a long-term basis, with high profile partners such as the Detroit Zoo, Zoo Park in the Netherlands and Singapore Zoo.
Pre-Covid revenues for the years ended 2018 and 2019 totalled £4.2m and £5.4m, respectively before a reduction in revenues following the pandemic, reflecting many of the headwinds faced by other companies in the entertainment sector.
The company owns an extensive collection of brick-based sculptures that have been hired out to its international customer base. The sculptures follow different themes, such as world landmarks, the animal kingdom and dinosaurs. In addition to the company’s individual models, the portfolio also holds more than 75,000kgs of assorted loose toy bricks (c.60,000kgs of which are stored in the UK).
Jagger said: “We are excited to present this opportunity to acquire the business and/or assets of Brick Live. Market conditions for the events and entertainment industries have sufficiently improved following the Covid-19 pandemic and we believe that, with the right management, performance could be returned to pre-Covid levels.
“Additionally, the company’s large portfolio of assets, in addition to its wide, international customer base, makes it an attractive prospect for acquisition.”
