Interpath has advised the Mitchells Group (“Mitchells”), a global provider of bulk material conveying equipment, on its acquisition of Australia-based Allied Grain Systems Pty (“AGS”) in a transaction that creates a multinational agricultural handling and storage solutions business.

The enlarged Mitchells business will now have the capability to engineer, manufacture, install and support grain handling and storage silos, servicing agricultural markets globally, with over 300 employees globally and manufacturing facilities in Lincolnshire (UK), Nanjing (China) and Young, New South Wales (Australia), alongside installations in 60 countries across six continents.

New South Wales-based Allied Grain Systems is one of Australia’s “best-known” designers and constructors in the sector.

The transaction will enable Mitchells to further strengthen its position in the Australasian agricultural storage and handling market. It follows Mitchells’ acquisition in 2019 of Lincolnshire-based bulk material handling specialists Guttridge, which served to expand its operations into the UK, Europe, and MENA.

The combination of Mitchell Group’s extensive bulk material conveying equipment and AGS’s specialised grain handling and storage solutions will provide customers with a full service, taking care of all their agricultural handling and storage needs.

A Corporate Finance and M&A Advisory team from Interpath advised Mitchells Group on the transaction. The Interpath team was led by managing director Heath Snyder and supported by Reuben Taylor and Andrej Yaksender.

Snyder said: “This is a significant cross-border acquisition for Mitchells that further enhances its complete grain handling and storage solution capabilities for its global customers. The transaction comes amidst relentless mechanisation of the sector, but also rising demand for quality agricultural machinery to help drive yields, reduce cost, and support climate transition. The enlarged Mitchells Group has the scale and international reach to build on those market dynamics and firmly establish itself as a truly global leader in the field.”

Eytan Uliel, chairman of Mitchells, added: “This is an exciting next step in our growth strategy, following the UK acquisition of Guttridge in 2019. Bringing AGS into the Mitchells family provides us with additional capabilities and an established presence in Australia, a major global grain producer. Heath Snyder and the corporate finance team at Interpath guided us through this complex cross border transaction, which will be transformational for our business.”
