Bishop Fleming has announced the appointment of Kevin Connor as head of Academies, a brand new leadership role within the firm.
Connor is a partner in Bishop Fleming’s audit team, and first joined the firm as a trainee in 2000. He progressed through its managerial ranks and was appointed partner in May 2021.
Bishop Fleming currently provides external audit services to more Academies than any other auditor in England.
The position of head of Academies is a new leadership role the firm has created to strengthen its market-leading position as it “eyes ambitious growth plans in the sector”.
Connor has significant experience in delivering audit and assurance services working with a diverse range of schools and organisations.
He said: “Since joining Bishop Fleming as a trainee in 2000, I have witnessed the establishment of our Academies work, played my own part in its development into the success it is today, and now have the opportunity to drive its development further. That is both a great challenge and a fantastic opportunity, which I will relish taking on.”
Pam Tuckett, partner and head of Bishop Fleming’s Education Sector, said: “From launching our academy work in 2010, our portfolio of Academy clients has grown to become the largest in England. Kevin is the perfect partner to both cement that position and add additional leadership as we seek to grow our unrivalled position in the education sector.”
Andrew Sandiford, managing partner, added: “Kevin’s appointment is a perfect example of a business harnessing its homegrown talent. For one of our trainees to develop through our ranks to lead one of the most important areas of our business is rewarding for our business, rewarding to Kevin and will be inspirational to those embarking on their career journey with us. I wish him all the best in his new leadership role.”
