Chartered IIA names Anne Kiem OBE as new CEO

She joins from the Chartered Association of Business Schools (Chartered ABS), where as CEO for eight years and oversaw the organisation being awarded its Royal Charter

The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (Chartered IIA) has appointed Anne Kiem OBE as its new chief executive. She replaces interim CEO John Wood who stepped down in December 2022.

Kiem has “extensive leadership experience” in the business, educational and non-profit sectors, according to Chartered IIA.

She joins from the Chartered Association of Business Schools (Chartered ABS), where as CEO for eight years and oversaw the organisation being awarded its Royal Charter.

Prior to that role, Kiem was also CEO of the Institute of Financial Services. She was awarded an OBE in 2019 for her services to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Kiem said: “I am delighted to have been appointed chief executive of the Chartered IIA. I am very much looking forward to leading the organisation over the coming years, working with all our brilliant staff, members, and stakeholders to ensure that we have a strong internal audit profession for the future.

“All businesses need to have robust mechanisms in place to monitor processes and practices to ensure long-term success and in more risky, uncertain, and volatile times the need for professional internal auditors has never been more important.”
