Deloitte Ireland bolsters tax department with new partner

Previously, Noone established his own tax credit firm, offering a technology solution for claiming R&D tax credits

Deloitte Ireland has announced that it has appointed Cathal Noone as a partner in the firm’s tax practice, and he will lead the global investment and innovation incentives service line.

This includes Deloitte’s support and advisory service on R&D tax credits, as well as broader grants and incentives.

Noone brings a wealth of experience to the role, having established his own tax credit firm, offering a technology solution for claiming R&D tax credits.

Deloitte said Noone’s experience will bring a broad perspective to clients, offering advice on all forms of R&D and grant funding, R&D audit strategy, compliance requirements and assisting companies in planning and implementing best in class processes and controls to manage their incentives.

As both an electronic engineer and a chartered accountant (ACA), Noone brings a dual skill set to assist Ireland’s information and communications technology sector, which will reportedly complement Deloitte’s existing offering.

Noone said: “As organisations are increasingly looking at R&D opportunities while trying to navigate the complex tax landscape, Deloitte provides world-class support to businesses in executing effective incentive strategies. I’m delighted to be joining the tax team at Deloitte and look forward to working with the global and local teams to do just that.”

Harry Goddard, CEO at Deloitte Ireland, added: “As our tax practice continues to grow, we are constantly seeking the right people to complement our existing offering and support us on our growth journey. Cathal brings a unique perspective to the team strengthening the breadth and depth of our experience and I look forward to seeing the impact he makes.”

Lorraine Griffin, head of tax at Deloitte Ireland, said: “Tax functions in many organisations are looking at how they can efficiently and effectively manage their incentives, and better equip their R&D divisions for success.

“Cathal’s skillset, bringing engineering and accounting together, gives him a unique point of view that will elevate our support for both local and global clients.”
