Tilney Smith and Williamson has announced that Sean O’Flanagan is joining the firm as an investment director.

His appointment comes on the back of the firm announcing that its assets under management had reached £57.7bn, and last year it hired 14 new investment managers and 23 new financial planners in its financial services business.

O’Flanagan joins Tilney Smith and Williamson from Charles Stanley, where he spent more than nine years as a senior investment manager and managed their AIM-based IHT service.

Chris Kenny, London managing partner at Tilney Smith and Williamson, said: “As we prepare to re-brand to Evelyn Partners in the summer, we are continuing to focus on making hires across all levels as part of our ambitious growth strategy. Sean’s appointment is an important strategic move for us and I’d like to warmly welcome him to the firm.

“He brings a considerable amount of senior investment management experience and I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to grow our AIM Portfolio Service. As the UK economic recovery continues, clients are increasingly attracted to investing in smaller companies as part of a diversified portfolio and we have seen an uplift in interest in our proposition.”

O’Flanagan added: “I’m excited to be joining a firm that has a strong reputation in investment management, while also being able to offer clients complementary financial planning and tax advisory services.

“It was this joined up approach across the three disciplines and the team’s vision for continued growth that convinced me this was the right career move for me. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help bring our specialist investment skills to a wider audience of private clients and financial advisers.”
