Tilney Smith and Williamson, has announced the appointment of business adviser John O’Callaghan as professional services managing partner – Ireland.

With a track record of growing businesses through “excellent and client focused advisory”, the firm said O’Callaghan joins Tilney Smith and Williamson from BDO, where he has been a partner since 2006.

In his new role, O’Callaghan will lead the group’s top ten professional services team in Ireland and focus on growing it through organic growth, strategic hires and acquisitions.

He succeeds Paul Wyse, who led the professional services team in Ireland since 2003.

Wyse said: “I am proud to have led Tilney Smith & Williamson’s professional services business in Ireland for the past 20 years and am delighted to welcome a business adviser of John’s calibre to lead the team into the next phase of our growth.

“The move will enable me to focus more directly on client servicing and developing new business opportunities for the firm in Ireland working with John and the wider team.”

O’Callaghan said: “Having set up my own firm in Australia and then built a very strong practice as a senior partner at BDO Ireland, I know first-hand the needs and expectations of ambitious and growth focused business leaders.

“Tilney Smith & Williamson has created a unique platform for business advisers at all stages in their careers to join a firm that has an unrivalled combination of financial strength, depth of expertise, and breadth of service offering. The next phase of our growth following the re-brand to Evelyn Partners in the summer will focus on strategic hires and both organic growth and acquisitions.”

Susan Shaw, chief professional services director at Tilney Smith and Williamson, added: “I am delighted to welcome John to Tilney Smith & Williamson. He shares our mutual ambitions for the continued growth of the firm and I know his experience will be a great asset to our clients, our colleagues, and the business overall.

“I am also immensely grateful to Paul Wyse for his leadership and the wider contribution he has made to the firm over the years, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him.”
