RSM advises on sale of MJFCA to ZPS Pensions Group

The acquisition of MJFCA provides an opportunity to synergise the two businesses, supporting XPS Pensions Group’s ambitions to further expand its existing SSASs and SIPPs business strands to deliver enhanced benefits for clients

RSM has advised specialist independent actuarial consultancy, Michael J Field Consulting Actuaries (MJFCA), on its sale to XPS Pensions Group, a UK pensions consultancy.

MJFCA was established over 30 years ago in Manchester and specialises in advising on all aspects of small, self-administered pension schemes (SSASs) and self-invested personal pension schemes (SIPPs).

Founded by Michael J Field, the company said it “works closely” with HMRC as part of its pension scheme offering across the North of England.

Based nationally in multiple offices in the UK, XPS Pensions Group offer services in pensions, investment and administration, advising on over 1500 pension schemes, administering pensions for over 930,000 members.

According to RSM, the acquisition of MJFCA provides an opportunity to synergise the two businesses, supporting XPS Pensions Group’s ambitions to further expand its existing SSASs and SIPPs business strands to deliver enhanced benefits for clients. The acquisition is expected to contribute approximately £1.9m revenue per annum to the group.

The RSM deal team was led by corporate finance partner John Gillibrand, with support from Aaron Bhatti and Jonny Bywater. Chris Ross, Vicky Protano and Maya Parmar from Mills and Reeve provided legal advice on the deal.

John Gillibrand, corporate finance partner at RSM UK, said: “Michael J Field Consulting Actuaries has established itself as a trusted, specialist name in the pensions sector and built a strong network of clients in the North of England over the last thirty years.

“The transaction has brought together two closely aligned businesses, drawing on their expertise to enhance the existing range of pensions services and support further expansion across the UK.”
