Watkin Jones has announced the appointment of Deloitte as its new auditor, replacing Ernst and Young (EY) who held the role for the past 24 years.

The company is a developer and manager of residential properties to rent, with a focus on the “build to rent” and student accommodation sector.

The change in auditor is part of the firm’s aim to adhere to “best practice” on corporate governance.

The board said it has now completed this process, which involved consideration of proposals from three audit firms, including one non-Big Four firm.

Following a recommendation by the group audit committee, Deloitte will be appointed immediately following the signing of the company’s financial statements for the year ending 30 September 2021.

In the meantime, Deloitte will “shadow” EY through the audit process for the company’s current year-end.
