The Chartered Accountants Ulster Society has re-elected Maeve Hunt as its chairperson at the group’s virtual AGM.
Through the re-election, Hunt becomes the first chairperson since 1958 to serve two terms at the body that represents over 5,000 chartered accountants across Northern Ireland.
Hunt’s re-election comes as the society looks to provide “stability and continuity” as the body advises businesses, charities, and organisations during the easing of Covid-19 restrictions.
Speaking at the AGM, she said: “The last year has been like no other. The expertise of our membership base has never been needed more.
“As we move forward, bouncing back from this health crisis will be the challenge of a generation. We will be using our voice to urge leaders to move quickly to help Northern Ireland to recover strongly from the pandemic.”
Currently a director at Grant Thornton, Hunt has also served as senior manager at BDO Northern Ireland and in a number of positions at Hill Vellacott.
She joined the society as a committee member in 2021, before being elected as vice chair in 2019 and chair in 2020.
