Grant Thornton announced it has appointed a new director for its forensic and investigation services in its north of England team.

Daniel Turner will now be based in the firm’s Manchester office, where he will lead a 12-strong team covering Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.

He joins Grant Thornton from FTI Consulting, where he worked for over two years as a managing director.

He brings with him over 17 years of experience in accounting, having previously specialised in disputes and investigations. He began his career in Manchester, before moving to the Middle East to help a number of firms, including BDO and PwC, develop their forensic presence.

Turner said: “After London, Manchester has one of the largest legal services communities in the UK, and handles a number of high profile disputes and investigations.

“Given the volume of transactional activity and new business in the region, combined with the strength of the Grant Thornton brand, we have an opportunity to benefit a range of industries across their respective lifecycles.”

Carl Williams, who leads the practice as managing director, added: “Forensic services is one of our most rapidly developing service lines and as we look to expand upon our offering, we must continue to invest in our team.

“Daniel’s exceptional and wide-ranging experience blends everything from corporate transactions to litigation and arbitration support. I have no doubt his track record and great contacts will prove instrumental in driving our growth across the North of England.”
