FRP Corporate Finance has acted as lead adviser to Bristol-based software firm Signable as it secured an investment from private equity firm BGF.
The funding will support new product development and ongoing growth strategies at the electronic signature provider.
Signable was founded by Olly Culverhouse and pivoted in 2012 to focus exclusively on its digital signature and workflow platform.
The company provides compliant software used to manage electronic signatures across various sectors, counting brands such as Aardman and Krispy Kreme among its clients.
The advisory process was led by partner Tim Spooner from the Bristol office of FRP Corporate Finance.
Spooner and his team worked alongside Signable management to assess funding options, select BGF as the strategic investment partner, handle commercial negotiations, and coordinate due diligence.
The investment is targeted at enhancing the technical capabilities of the platform and expanding the software developer’s service offering. Legal advice for the transaction was provided by VWV for the sell-side and Ashfords for the buy-side.
Spooner said: “Software as a Service businesses like Signable, with a clear customer focus, strong repeat usage and business-critical products, continue to attract strong interest from private equity investors. It is more important than ever in the current market that SaaS providers can clearly demonstrate their differentiated IP and long-term sustainability to underpin growth plans and satisfy investor requirements.
“BGF’s track record of supporting the growth of technology businesses will empower the management team as they scale the business further. It will also unlock new resources for Signable as it looks to expand its offering and I look forward to seeing how the business continues to develop following this transaction.”
Culverhouse added: “The investment from BGF represents a transformational opportunity for Signable, providing a strong platform from which to launch our next phase of growth. It will enable us to build on that mission, strengthen our product offering, invest further in our people and continue delivering the level of service our customers know us for.
“I’m grateful to Tim and the team at FRP Corporate Finance for their support on this transaction. Their expertise and experience helped ensure the best possible outcome from this deal for Signable, its colleagues and customers, and we look forward to an even brighter future as part of the BGF family.”
