Saffery has appointed David Melloy as its first head of client development to lead growth across its national offices.
Based in London, Melloy will work with private client and corporate teams to win new business and expand existing relationships. He will lead a new client development team, with plans to recruit three staff members in the Northern and Southern regions.
The firm is investing in a scalable approach to business development. Melloy has more than 20 years of experience building partnerships with wealth managers, investment platforms and professional networks.
Saffrey said the appointment aims to strengthen its ability to serve financial services businesses, while creating new opportunities for cross-referral partnerships with advice networks and financial intermediaries.
Melloy will report to marketing and business development director Richard Crook. He will work with the firm’s existing marketing and business development team of 22 people.
Crook said: “This is the first role of its kind at the firm and reflects our ambition to take a more joined-up, national and sector led approach to client development. David brings strong experience in delivering sustainable growth. He will play a pivotal role in helping us build deeper relationships with clients and key referrers of work across the UK.”
Melloy added: “Saffery has a clear focus on growth, collaboration and building its national profile. I look forward to building a high-performing team and working closely with colleagues across the firm to support clients and unlock new opportunities.”
