Daphne Hemingway has joined HW Fisher as a partner to lead its VAT team, bringing 30 years of experience from both mid-tier and Big Four firms.

Hemingway joins the London-based firm from Jerroms Miller Specialist Tax, another member of the Sumer Group, which is currently ranked as a top 11 UK accountancy practice.

Her professional background includes senior roles at PwC, Deloitte, EY, Blick Rothenberg, and RSM.

She specialises in VAT litigation, dispute resolution, and complex property transactions. According to HW Fisher, the appointment is intended to strengthen HW Fisher’s specialist tax division and support its national and international client base.

Hemingway will focus on delivering advisory services across several niche sectors, including private education, financial services, and the not-for-profit industry.

The recruitment of Hemingway follows HW Fisher’s strategy to utilise the Sumer Group network to access technical talent across the accounting industry.

Her remit includes the management of partial exemption cases and VAT considerations for corporate finance deals.

By integrating Hemingway’s litigation experience, the firm aims to expand its capacity for handling high-stakes tax disputes and regulatory compliance

Andrew Rich, managing partner at HW Fisher, said: “We welcome Daphne to the HW Fisher team. Her technical expertise will add value to new and existing clients, accelerating the growth of our tax team. Being part of the Sumer Group has given us access to talent, and Daphne’s arrival is a step in driving our strategy and growth plans forward.”

Hemingway added: “I am joining HW Fisher. It was clear how much focus there is in the VAT practice, and I am to contribute to its growth. Building a VAT advisory team at Jerroms Miller was an experience, and I am looking forward to bringing that knowledge into a new environment. I am eager to work with our clients and help deliver support and insight.”
