Ashmole and Co has promoted Sam Jones and Lucy Jones to the newly created position of associate, integrating younger management into the firm’s strategic leadership board.

The appointments are part of a structural business decision to transition senior staff into management board roles to oversee the firm’s long-term operations.

The new associates are tasked with managing specific client portfolios, acting as primary points of contact, and leading teams of client managers and accountants.

Their remit includes conducting performance appraisals, mentoring junior staff, and implementing standardised accounting processes to ensure adherence to professional auditing and taxation standards across the firm’s 13 regional offices.

Lucy, based in Ammanford, joined the firm in 2018 and holds an ACCA qualification attained in 2006. Meanwhile, Sam, primarily based in the Llandeilo office, joined as a trainee in 2015 and qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 2022.

With a background in the agricultural sector, Sam will continue to focus on specialised tax queries and financial information for farming clients.

The firm, established in 1897, remains one of the largest practices in Wales, providing audit, business consultancy, and corporate planning services.

Lucy Jones said: “I am one of Ashmole and Co’s first associates. I have built up relationships over the years with clients and staff. It is rewarding seeing staff that I have trained develop in their jobs. I am looking forward to this chapter.”

Sam Jones added: “I am grateful for this opportunity the partners have given me. I find it rewarding to turn financial documents into information that clients can use to succeed. I enjoy solving problems for clients, especially concerning tax queries. I look forward to taking on more hands-on dealings with clients in my role.”
