Mercer and Hole has announced Will Da Costa as its new insolvency investigations and forensics manager, a move it said will boost its restructuring and insolvency services.
Based in the chartered accountancy firm’s London office, Da Costa supports diverse clients, such as private individuals, shipping and media companies, banks, governments and organisations in the oil, gas and mining industries.
Da Costa steps into his new role with wide-ranging experience in forensic accounting, financial investigations, and expert witness support.
Entering the world of forensic accounting in 2016 at Alvarez and Marsal, he has worked across disputes, investigations and several specialist internal teams and carried out an external secondment to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
After qualifying as a chartered accountant, Da Costa joined K2 Integrity, where he focused on complex financial investigations concerning asset tracing, internal investigations and forensic accounting assignments within several jurisdictions.
Mercer and Hole said he is now an authoritative vice in forensic accounting and internal investigation, focusing on asset‑tracing enquiries and cross‑border financial investigations that involve the review and reconstruction of complex bank statement activity and fund flows. He frequently conducts financial data analysis and has handled cases involving fraud, bribery, embezzlement, and misappropriation, delivering objective assessments backed by solid evidence.
The firm added he additionally contributes to expert witness matters, such as the quantification of damages and detailed financial reporting and disclosure assessments. His work often involves reconstructing financial transactions, analysing cryptocurrency activity, and conducting source‑of‑wealth reviews where clarity and rigour are essential.
Mercer and Hole has 27 partners and over 250 employees across its offices in London, St Albans Rickmansworth and Milton Keynes.
Will Da Costa said: “I am very excited to have joined Mercer and Hole and look forward to working with the team and clients across a range of sectors. I particularly enjoy the opportunity to lead complex, fast‑moving assignments often working alongside legal teams to provide evidence, or to help their clients defend positions in disputes. No two cases are the same.”
Dominc Dumville, restructuring and Insolvency partner at Mercer and Hole, added: “We are delighted to welcome Will to the team. His expertise and knowledge will help to provide the best outcomes for our clients, especially those with complex cases where water-tight evidence is needed.”
