Saffery has announced the appointment of 15 members of staff across its Edinburgh corporate tax, accounting and audit teams, taking the office headcount to more than 75.

The firm, which has operated in Edinburgh for more than 30 years, relocated last year to 9 Haymarket Square. The latest intake includes senior manager Louise Anderson, manager Aimee O’Hara-Wilson and tax assistant Sophie Murray in corporate tax.

Senior associates George Dickson and Oliver Kelly have joined the audit division alongside associate Max Venditti. Audit assistants Nathan Stringer, Lewis Murdoch, Ollie Stevens and Freddie Lambert have also been appointed. The accounting team has been expanded with accounts assistants Pearce Hopkins, Lilian Morrison and Oliver Magowan.

Executive assistant Clare McCulloch and business support assistant Sophie O’Driscoll have joined the firm, while interns Chris Nield, Niamh Boyd and Finley Stokes are completing placements.

Anderson has worked in Edinburgh for more than 25 years at a big four firm, an independent practice and in industry, said she was attracted by the range of clients at Saffery.

Anderson said: “This is an opportunity to join one of Edinburgh’s best-known and most respected accountancy firms. The variety of the work also really appealed. I’m really looking forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Sean McGinness, partner and head of the Edinburgh office at Saffery, added: “Over the past 12 months we’ve grown significantly in Edinburgh due to our full-service offering. Our accounting and audit divisions have also experienced significant growth with numerous high-profile client wins due to our partner-led, bespoke approach.”

According to McGinness, further appointments were planned in the coming months as the team built on its work in accounting, audit, assurance, tax, VAT, corporate finance and business advisory

The Edinburgh office also provides sector specialists across areas including owner-managed businesses, private wealth, agricultural and rural enterprises, hospitality, real estate, recruitment, professional services, international business, charities and not-for-profit organisations.
