FRP Corporate Finance has overseen the sale of Norfolk-based rigid plastic packaging manufacturer Coda Plastics and its parent company, Campbell and Tate Ltd, to the Newship Group.Coda Plastics, founded in 1973 and based in North Walsham, supplies rigid plastic packaging to clients ranging from start-ups to major brands including Imperial Leather, Original Source and Revlon.
The business, which produces more than 20 million caps, closures and bottles each month, operates across injection moulding, injection blow moulding, stretch blow moulding and extrusion blow moulding.
FRP Corporate Finance’s Norwich team acted as lead sell-side advisers after being appointed by Coda Plastics. The team, led by director Alex Hunton and assistant manager Cameron Robertson, ran a competitive process that identified Newship as a buyer with what it described as strong cultural alignment, before steering negotiations and due diligence through to completion.
Newship operates across packaging, construction, engineering and premium hire. Coda Plastics will sit alongside its existing packaging interests, which include glass manufacturer Beatson Clark and distributor Pont Europe.
The company is expected to benefit from additional investment, operational synergies and sustainability expertise from within the group, particularly through Pont Europe, as packaging legislation continues to evolve.
Coda Plastics will remain an independent business within the group, retaining its management team and board.
Alex Hunton, director at FRP Corporate Finance, said: “The team at Coda Plastics has built itself a great reputation in the market. This deal will enable it to build on its progress and take its growth to the next level.
“In Newship Group, Coda Plastics has found a strong partner, with complementary offerings, valuable expertise, shared ambition and close alignments in values. I look forward to seeing what these businesses can achieve together in the years to come.”
Nick Tate, managing director at Coda Plastics, added: “We’re excited to begin this new chapter with Newship. Their long-term approach and investment mindset align perfectly with our ambitions for innovation, sustainability, and customer service excellence. Together, we’re building a stronger future for our customers and our people.
“The support provided by Alex and the team at FRP Corporate Finance was second-to-none. They provided exceptional guidance at every step in the process, from helping us to identify the right partner in the Newship Group to negotiating terms through to completion.”
