Accountancy firm Kilsby Williams has launched a forensic accounting and expert witness service, following the appointment of Chris Hatcher to the firm following 30 years with two local practices.

The division will be led by Hatcher and existing partner Huw Sheppard who has many years’ experience in providing expert witness valuations.

Hatcher joins the firm with a wealth of experience in forensic accounting and expert witness services. He is a chartered accountant who trained and qualified with a predecessor firm of PwC. He has acted for a wide range of businesses from SMEs to sizeable groups, as well as holding both audit and probate licenses.

He has a joint honours degree in Accountancy and Law, is a member of both the Academy of Experts and the Expert Witness Institute and an affiliate member of Resolution.

Hatcher said: “Accountancy firms have traditionally undertaken expert witness valuation work in areas such as matrimonial disputes. There is an increasing demand for this, but also for other services in fields such as shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence actions, personal injury and business loss claims, contractual disputes and tax related matters, with advisory rather than expert reports often being required.”

Simon Tee, managing partner at Kilsby Williams, added: “We have identified a gap in the market for this service as many competitor firms have withdrawn their services. This has left a real lack of experience in the market. Our team will fill that gap and the division will enhance the breadth of services offered by our firm.”

Established in 1991, Kilsby Williams works with clients locally in south Wales, extending across the UK and globally. Their clients range from sole traders to international quoted groups.
