The National Audit Office (NAO) has announced the appointment of Verity Prime and Laura Lucking as new executive directors.

They will be responsible for overseeing the watchdog’s work on areas such as infrastructure, transport, major projects, defence, energy and net zero.

They join from The National Lottery Community Fund where they worked as the directors of funding strategy, communications and impact.

With a strategic leadership background across the public sector, they bring significant experience delivering organisation-wide change projects and managing large multi-disciplinary teams of experts.

Regarding their appointment, Prime and Lucking said: “We’re delighted to be joining the NAO. We are passionate about making public services as efficient and effective as possible, especially for the people that need them most.

“Being part of the NAO offers us a really exciting opportunity to influence delivery across public services.”

Gareth Davies, head of the NAO, added: “I’m looking forward to welcoming Laura and Verity to the NAO. They bring a wealth of experience from across the sector and will play a critical role in delivering the NAO’s ambitions.”
