Grant Thornton UK has bolstered its technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) M&A offering with the appointment of Nathan Reay as partner.

Reay is an investment banker and former C-suite executive with over 20 years’ experience in global strategy and M&A, during which time he has been based in Hong Kong, Sydney and London.

His previous roles have included leading strategy for national and international multi-platform media companies, overseeing global technology and media joint ventures across various sectors, and sitting on the investment committee and board of a consumer technology-focused venture capital (VC) fund.

Additionally, he has been on the advisory board of a number of technology, e-commerce and content platforms, and served as acting CEO of various TMT investments post-acquisition.

Reay was also a managing partner/founder of a boutique M&A corporate advisory firm focused on TMT, with offices in Sydney and Singapore.

In his role as partner, Reay will focus on rapidly expanding the firm’s TMT capabilities in the UK and globally. He will also play a leading role in strengthening the firm’s offering and working closely with clients including funds, corporates and privately held companies.

Reay said: “I am very excited to be joining Grant Thornton. The extensive national and international network of the firm offers enormous opportunities. I have operated and managed TMT companies, as well as sold, acquired and invested into them for many years in my previous roles.

“There are huge opportunities ahead for Grant Thornton as companies in this sector evolve their business models through strategic M&A, in the UK and internationally. I look forward to working closely with clients across the TMT landscape, whether at a fund, corporate or private company level, and we will be committed to delivering a distinctive and unique blend of senior led, insight driven advice, as they develop and execute their strategic plans.”

Andy Morgan, head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications M&A, Grant Thornton UK LLP, added: “We are delighted to bring Nathan on board as we continue to grow our M&A business across the TMT sector.

“Nathan brings a wealth of international experience in APAC and from across the sector. His deep corporate experience in the media and technology sectors in particular will expand and strengthen our existing capability, as the drivers of digital transformation across the TMT sector continue to accelerate.”
