Grant Thornton UK has been awarded a Gold-accredited membership via The 5% Club’s 2023/24 Employer Audit Scheme in recognition of the firm’s contribution to the development of its people through “earn and learn” apprenticeship programmes.
The 5% Club is a “dynamic” movement of employers with a membership which now exceeds 900 companies, all of whom are “inspired to take positive action” for increased, inclusive, and accessible workplace training.
Through the Employer Audit, a scheme which validates the employers’ activities, the firm was checked for their future plans and commitments to apprenticeships, as well as examined its approaches to quality, social mobility, diversity and inclusion.
Justin Rix, head of people advisory at Grant Thornton UK, said: “At Grant Thornton, we recognise the importance of investing in skills development at all levels of our organisation and the value that this has for our business and the future of the professional services sector.
“Around 21% of our workforce are using apprenticeships to gain qualifications, ranging from our school leaver programme to MBA level executive leadership learning and we’re proud to be listed in the Department for Education’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers.”
He added: “We are passionate about promoting the benefits that apprenticeships provide, including the key role they play in boosting social mobility. In addition to the apprenticeships that we offer to our own people, our people advisory team has supported over 2,000 organisations to optimise their apprenticeship levy.”
