UHY Hacker Young has appointed Daniel Cooksley as director in its Turnaround and Recovery team in London.
Cooksley brings 30 years of experience in the accounting industry where he specialises in business recovery and turnaround, including working with multiple businesses within the hospitality, health, construction, property, energy, and finance sectors.
He has also conducted large turnaround engagements, and high-profile, complex litigation cases, requiring significant litigation funding.
Cooksley joins the firm from a highly regarded Sydney-based insolvency firm. He previously worked for Pitcher Partners for 13 years, a top ten Australian accounting firm and an Australian member of Baker Tilly International. He also brings with him 15 years of London based experience, predominantly gained at Smith and Williamson, now Evelyn Partners.
His recent engagements include advising ASX-listed pharmaceutical and technology companies on the development and implementation of their turnaround plans. He also oversaw a dispute resolution between stakeholders of an agricultural company, resulting in a sale of the 33% shareholding for a consideration in excess of AU$6m (£3.2m).
Subarna Banerjee, managing partner of UHY Hacker Young said: “Daniel will be an excellent addition to our turnaround and recovery team, bringing three decades worth of experience in corporate engagements to UHY.
“Daniel’s experience working with high-profile and complex financial restructuring over the past 30 years will put him in a great position to help our clients.”
