ICAEW has officially announced the appointment of David Franklin as its new chief financial officer after being acting CFO since September 2022.
He joins Michael Izza and COO, Sharron Gunn, as the executive representatives on ICAEW’s board.
Prior to his appointment, he played a key role in developing the institute’s member offering since first joining the ICAEW in 2015.
Franklin qualified as an ICAEW chartered accountant at PwC, where he worked in audit before specialising in business valuations. He then joined the association as head of members and commercial, leading the organisations’ efforts to support members, as well as its commercial activities.
In 2017, Franklin was promoted to director and in 2021 to managing director of belonging and supporting.
As CFO, he will be responsible for ICAEW’s finance and central operations teams.
Away from ICAEW, Franklin is also on the board of National Prison Radio and has been a business mentor at the Prince’s Trust.
Michael Izza, chief executive of ICAEW, said: “Following a rigorous interview process involving ICAEW council and board members, I am delighted to announce the appointment of David as our new CFO.
“David has already achieved a great deal during his time at ICAEW and following a successful spell as acting CFO can already boast a deep understanding of the job and the crucial role our members play in supporting businesses and economies around the world.”
He added: “I would like to congratulate David and wish him continued success within ICAEW and all the very best in his new role.”
Franklin added: “It’s an honour to be appointed as ICAEW’s CFO. It’s an exciting time for both the organisation and the profession and I look forward to continuing to work alongside colleagues and our volunteers as we focus on delivering our strategy.”
