Accountancy firm Gravita has appointed six senior staff members across its tax, legal, risk, VAT, outsourced finance, and audit departments to support its growth.

The expansion includes hires in London, Bristol, and Exeter as the firm aims to provide specialist advice to a client base of small businesses and mid-market organisations.

Genevieve Morris joins as executive member and head of tax in London. Morris has more than 20 years of experience in corporate taxation, including tax compliance and mergers.

She previously spent 13 years at Blick Rothenberg and nine years at Deloitte. Morris is a certified coach and will focus on talent development within the firm.

Meanwhile, Ian Cokayne has been appointed as the first chief legal and risk officer. Cokayne joins from Grant Thornton, where he led the office of the general counsel.

He has experience in legal transactions, high-value disputes, and investigations. His role was created to manage increasing complexity within the firm’s diverse client portfolio.

David Gage joins as VAT partner in Bristol, becoming the eighth member of the specialist VAT team. Gage has a decade of experience in financial services and property.

Elsewhere, Tanveer Mahtab-Ahmed has been named head of outsourced finance in London. Mahtab-Ahmed joins from a top 20 firm and will lead tech-driven finance initiatives.

The audit department has been bolstered by Alan Sanders and Sudhir Bance. Sanders joins as director of audit in Exeter with 15 years of assurance experience.

Bance joins as director of audit in London. He specialises in working with technology and media companies listed on the AIM and Aquis markets.

Interim chief executive and chair, Heather Swanston, said: “After a strong 2025, where nearly 1,000 new clients joined the firm, 12% of colleagues earned a promotion, employee sentiment increased by 4%, and our tech transformation accelerated at pace, these appointments signal, internally and externally, our plans for another ambitious year at Gravita.

“This is an exciting time to join the Gravita brand, and we will continue to invest in the very best talent across the UK, in individuals who bring technical excellence, a commercial mindset, and a real focus on people and culture.”
