The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) has announced the appointment of Fiona Campbell as the new chair of the Forum of Firms.
She succeeds David Isherwood, who held the position for nearly eight years.
A partner at EY Global in Melbourne, Campbell took up the role earlier this week (23 July) after previously serving as deputy chair of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB).
Isherwood, ethics partner at BDO UK, had chaired the Forum since November 2017. His tenure was marked by a focus on strengthening audit quality and collaboration across the profession.
Lee White, chief executive of the IFAC), said: “David’s thoughtful and proactive leadership has left a lasting impact. In particular, he has driven the Forum of Firms and its mission forward, so that the profession continues to meet the highest standards of integrity and quality.
“His commitment to the practical implementation of global standards, in the public interest, and to fostering collaboration across the profession has been truly appreciated.”
He also welcomed Campbell’s appointment, citing her “exceptional judgment, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to audit quality and the public interest”.
Campbell is expected to guide the Forum through a period of global change, with priorities including audit quality, sustainability, regulatory alignment and public trust.
The Forum of Firms was established in 2002 as an independent association of international networks of firms that perform transnational audits. It operates in partnership with IFAC.
