Midlands accountancy firm Ballards LLP has been shortlisted in two categories at the Accounting Excellence Awards, recognising its performance and innovation across the sector.

The firm is a finalist for ‘Mid-tier Firm of the Year’ and ‘Audit Firm of the Year’, and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 30 September 2025.

The mid-tier firm category is open to practices with a fee income between £2m and £10m, recognising those that show strong strategy and results in a competitive market.

Ballards’ shortlisting reflects what organisers described as its multi-team structure, strategic client service and measurable results.

James Syree, chief executive and partner at Ballards, said: “This recognition validates our commitment to delivering exceptional value to our clients whilst maintaining the highest professional standards.

“Our success is built on our specialist expertise, strong client relationships, and our dedicated team’s unwavering focus on excellence.”

The ‘Audit Firm of the Year’ nomination acknowledges Ballards’ investment in audit technology, staff development and quality assurance during a period of regulatory change.

Ben Powell, audit partner at Ballards, added: “At a time when the audit profession faces unprecedented challenges, we’ve embraced change as an opportunity to strengthen our practice.

“Our focus on innovation, quality, and staff engagement has enabled us to not only meet but exceed the evolving expectations of our clients and regulatory bodies.”

The firm, which operates across the Midlands, has reported strong client retention, enhanced profitability and positive feedback. It also credits staff development and a collaborative culture for high retention and innovation.
