Deloitte has officially launched its annual Summer Vacation Scheme, which offers paid work experience to 460 university students across 15 UK offices.
The scheme, which begins today (30 June), is open to students in the penultimate year of their degree. Participants gain experience across Deloitte’s audit and assurance, tax and legal, and consulting teams – including strategy, risk, transactions advisory, and technology and transformation.
The programme includes client work and team-based projects, with a focus on developing professional skills such as communication and teamwork. Some participants may also receive offers to join Deloitte’s graduate programme.
Richard Harries, who was promoted to partner in the firm’s tax business earlier this month, joined Deloitte after taking part in the scheme in 2009 as a student at the University of Liverpool.
Harries said: “I’m a huge fan of our Summer Vacation Scheme. It’s more than just an internship; it provides a lasting impression of our firm’s culture and the people who make it thrive.
“I realised how much I enjoyed tax, and I took the opportunities on offer to make the most of my time on the programme. The connections and bonds you make have been instrumental to my success at Deloitte.”
Jackie Henry, managing partner for people and purpose at Deloitte, added: “Each year, we see hundreds of bright, talented and motivated young people join our Summer Vacation Scheme.
“I find it incredibly inspiring seeing the students develop valuable career skills, get stuck into client projects and grow in confidence as the weeks go on.”
