Grant Thornton UK has promoted Jarred Erceg and Russell Simpson to partners in its financial services restructuring and insolvency team.

Erceg, a qualified insolvency practitioner, has more than 15 years’ experience delivering restructuring advisory services in Australia and the UK. He works with corporates, capital providers and other stakeholders on complex and distressed financial services engagements.

He will focus on growing the firm’s financial services restructuring and insolvency offering, leading work on turnaround strategies, wind-down planning and formal insolvency appointments. He will also support national team development and market engagement. His cross-border experience includes secondments to the workout division of an Australian bank and Grant Thornton’s restructuring practice in Hong Kong.

Erceg said: “It’s been an incredible journey with the firm, beginning as a graduate with Grant Thornton Australia, followed by a stint with Grant Thornton Hong Kong, before joining Grant Thornton UK in 2018. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working with my fellow partners and team to drive our firm’s success and deliver for our clients.”

Simpson, who has spent 19 years with Grant Thornton, is also a licensed insolvency practitioner and experienced restructuring adviser. He has led several high-profile cases, including joint administrator and joint special administrator appointments in complex financial services scenarios.

In his new role, he will focus on banks, lenders, digital assets and broader market stakeholders including regulators, lawyers and government bodies.

Simpson said: “I am very excited to announce my promotion to partner at Grant Thornton UK. After 19 incredible years with this amazing firm, it’s hard to put into words how proud I am to reach this milestone in my career.

“I am immensely grateful for the support from my colleagues, family, mentors, and clients who have been with me every step of the way, in particular Chris Laverty, for the opportunities that our specialist financial services restructuring and insolvency team brings. I am excited for the challenges ahead and look forward to continuing to contribute to our firm’s success and the success of our clients, particularly in light of our recent Cinven transaction.”

Chris Laverty, partner and head of financial services restructuring and insolvency at Grant Thornton UK, added: “I’m delighted to see both Jarred and Russell step into partner roles – an achievement that reflects their outstanding leadership, technical expertise and dedication to client outcomes. Their journeys with the firm are a great example of our commitment to nurturing talent and creating clear pathways for growth.

“As we continue to expand our financial services restructuring and insolvency offering across the UK and internationally, their deep experience will be instrumental in helping our clients navigate evolving challenges. These promotions also reflect our broader focus on strengthening our senior leadership bench to meet growing market demand.”
