Buzzacott has assisted Downing LLP in expanding its investment vehicle for charitable institutions through the acquisition of a portfolio of domestic rooftop solar installations.
The accountancy firm provided transaction advisory services, financial and tax due diligence, and VAT consultancy services.
Downing Sustainable Investment (DSI), which is managed by Downing LLP, has acquired a portfolio of around 2,900 domestic rooftop solar installations which provide electricity to tenants of six housing associations across Yorkshire, the East Midlands and East Anglia.
As a vehicle designed specifically for charitable institutions, DSI’s mandate is to provide access to renewable energy investments that can deliver a broader positive environmental impact, as well as regular returns that can support a charity’s day-to-day investment objectives.
The transaction team at Buzzacott was made up of associate director James Wood and assistant manager Megan Leonard-Moran, overseen by partner Alex Judd.
Meanwhile, the tax team was led by partner Luke Savvas, supported by senior manager Kazia Kruszewski, supervisor Nick Lee, as well as director Kam Chauhan from Buzzacott’s specialist VAT team.
