Aberdeen-based accountancy firm Hall Morrice has appointed Chris Colville as partner.
The move is part of the group’s strategy to expand its range of services, strengthen its leadership team and secure Hall Morrice’s long-term success as an independent accountancy firm in the North East of Scotland.
Colville has become the company’s first partner focussing solely on tax since its establishment in 1976.
Colville, who joined Hall Morrice in late 2021 in the role of tax director, has over 15 years of experience in tax compliance and advisory services.
He has worked with the group’s clients across various sectors, including energy and renewables, property, construction, manufacturing and hospitality. He has also been instrumental in supporting its digital transformation.
Bob Bain, managing partner at Hall Morrice, said: “Chris has made a valuable contribution to Hall Morrice, proving himself to be a trusted advisor to our clients, a respected leader of our tax team and an innovator in the adoption of new technologies.
“His appointment reflects our commitment to invest in our people and our vision to be the leading independent accountancy practice in the region. With the appointment of Des Petrie as partner in 2022 along with Chris in 2024, we are future proofing Hall Morrice with a team of experienced partners and a new generation who will play a key role in guiding Hall Morrice now and in the coming years.”
Colville added: “We have a talented and dedicated team here and I look forward to continuing to deliver high-quality and personalised services to our clients. One of the reasons I was attracted to Hall Morrice when I joined just over two years ago was the fact that the management team was committed to growing and developing internal talent.
“My appointment confirms that the robust individual development plans which the whole team have pays off in growing the team from within. As an independent firm, we have the flexibility and agility to respond to the changing needs and expectations of our clients, the market and our staff. We can offer both clients and staff the benefits of our local knowledge, local expertise and local decision-making, combined with access to national and international networks.”
