Accountancy and business advisory firm Johnston Carmichael has made an addition to its growing audit team with a new partner based in Edinburgh.

Audit partner, Matt Kaye has joined from a Big Four audit team, bringing nearly two decades of extensive experience advising large owner managed business clients across a variety of sectors and leading key client accounts.

Kaye’s experience includes three years of working in Australia and his addition comes as the firm’s audit team continues to expand under the leadership of Graham Marjoribanks.

The firm has enjoyed a series of recent business wins and now audits more of Scotland’s Top 100 Private Businesses than any other firm.

Regarding his appointment, Kaye said: “Johnston Carmichael’s profile and presence in the audit market, and the clients they work with, really attracted me to the role. As a partner at Johnston Carmichael, I’ll have a hands-on role with all my clients, and I will also be considering how they could benefit from the wider expertise across the firm.

“By taking a proactive approach to understanding the needs and strategic ambitions of businesses, we are able to introduce additional services that can add value – a real differentiator in the marketplace. I want to continue working with large companies across Scotland and beyond, and Johnston Carmichael feels like the perfect place to do that.”

Marjoribanks, partner and head of audit and assurance at Johnston Carmichael, said: “It’s great to welcome Matt to Johnston Carmichael, and his extensive experience and skills across a range of sectors is a perfect fit for our audit team and the direction we are going in. Matt will bring the energy and approach with clients we value at Johnston Carmichael, which we feel truly sets us apart.

“Our audit team has seen significant growth over the last 12 months, with key senior hires creating a specialist team of over 230 audit professionals across Scotland, Newcastle and London. Welcoming Matt on board further reinforces our bench strength across our markets.”
