AAT appoints new executive director
Jonathan Gorvin was recently responsible for implementing recommendations from the Levitt inquiry and Bichard review regarding governance and strategy at RICS
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) has announced the appointment of Jonathan Gorvin to its executive team.
Gorvin has 15 years of experience in policy and strategy and will take on the official role of executive director of strategy and compliance.
Following time spent at other professional and regulatory bodies including fellow accounting membership body the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and most recently the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in the property sector, he will carry over plenty of knowledge to hit the ground running at AAT.
He recently was responsible for implementing recommendations from the Levitt inquiry and Bichard review regarding governance and strategy at RICS.
Regarding the appointment, Gorvin said: “I am delighted to be joining AAT at such a pivotal time. With the launch of the new 2030 strategy, aimed at securing relevance, AAT is incredibly well positioned to create real opportunities for people to access the accountancy profession and be empowered to excel in their careers and their lives.
“I look forward to working with the AAT community to deliver our collective goals and create positive change in the accountancy profession and beyond.”
Gorvin is also a non-executive director of Social Work England and chair of its policy committee. His breadth of top-level experience will be pivotal to helping AAT work towards the three key priorities set out in the organisation’s strategic plan: keeping the accounting profession relevant, driving up standards and building responsible business.
Sarah Beale, CEO of AAT, said: “We’re so pleased to be welcoming Jonathan to our amazing AAT Team. We’re all looking forward to hearing his ideas and working together to deliver our Vision of Securing the Future Relevance of AAT and our Profession.
“It’s always our aim to bring on board people who not only have the right skills and experience, but also share our vision for the future and understand the importance of AAT’s values, culture and our wonderful community – I think Jonathan really exemplifies and embodies those values and I’m excited for what we can achieve going forward.”
