IRIS Software Group, a software provider of accountancy, HCM and education solutions, has acquired Bishop Fleming’s Payroll Service Bureau.

The transaction will see the top 30 UK professional services firms divest its payroll service, enabling it to focus on its core audit, accounting, tax, and advisory growth strategy.

Bishop Fleming’s 900 managed payroll clients will join IRIS customers taking advantage of IRIS Fully Managed Payroll and a BACS-approved bureau service, using the latest technology, run by an expert team of experienced CIPP-accredited payroll managers.

The collaboration will continue with a strategic partnership, giving Bishop Fleming the opportunity to utilise the IRIS payroll bureau as part of its portfolio of services for clients.

The group stated that Bishop Fleming’s payroll service business brings “a wealth of expertise and quality service to the market, and combined with the breadth and scale of IRIS, Bishop Fleming’s clients will continue to receive a tailored and exceptional service”.

David Lockie, chief operating officer of IRIS Software Group, said: “Our mission to support accountants and bookkeepers extends beyond our expertise in software solutions. Working in collaboration with Bishop Fleming, this agreement enables the firm to prioritise its strategic growth around accounting advisory services and be reassured the payroll is right first time, every time. We are delighted to welcome new colleagues and clients to the IRIS family, as well as evolve our established partnership.”

Andrew Sandiford, managing partner at Bishop Fleming, added: “We’ve set ambitious plans for our business over the next few years, focussed on the sustainable growth of our business across Audit, Accountancy, Tax and Advisory services in all our markets. This move enables us to focus on driving that growth through our core services and re-invest in our core business, whilst partnering with IRIS experts to continue to advise and deliver solutions in respect of complex payroll needs.”
