Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP has announced the appointment of Kevin Martin as partner.

Over the last decade, Martin has focused on advising financial services clients on many complex indirect tax issues such as Brexit restructuring, agreeing partial exemption special methods, disposals and acquisitions, HMRC disputes, cross border transactions and relocation/market entry complexities.

In his new role, Martin will lead the firm’s indirect tax financial services advisory practice.

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Scully, tax partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, said: “Grant Thornton continues to see increasing demand for indirect tax advisory services, in particular, from the financial services sector. Kevin’s appointment to lead our financial services indirect tax offering reinforces our belief that the market will continue to see growth.

“Kevin brings a wealth of experience in advising businesses in both financial services and across other sectors. We’re excited to welcome him to the team as we continue to invest in our financial services tax practice.”

Martin said: “The opportunity to help shape the future of Grant Thornton’s financial services indirect tax offering, and work with such an incredibly dedicated partner group and team, was a once in a career opportunity that I simply couldn’t turn down.

“I firmly believe the UK is, and will continue to be, a global financial services powerhouse. We have seen continued investment into the UK financial services market with the UK leading Europe as the most attractive destination for foreign direct investment. With this investment, and expansion, comes demand for indirect tax advisory services to help clients navigate the complexities, and opportunities, financial services indirect tax presents.”
