EY has appointed a new partner, Mark Wardle, to its private equity and capital transactions (PCT) team.

Wardle joins EY’s mergers and acquisition tax practice, which has seen growth in recent years as private equity firms continue to invest in UK and international groups across a range of sectors.

He will be responsible for accelerating the practice’s growth, working alongside private equity firms as well as portfolio companies as they undertake transactions.

Jonathan Anderson, EY international tax and transaction services (ITTS) co-leader, said: “The private equity sector saw $1 trillion in deal activity last year and EY is ideally positioned to capitalise on a market that remains exceptionally busy.

“Mark is a very welcome addition to our team and will play a crucial role in maintaining and growing our mergers and acquisitions tax practice’s industry-leading position during a pivotal time for the private equity industry. Economic turbulence may fuel a rise in distressed assets and a drop in valuations, a combination that has offered ideal deal-marking conditions in the past.”
