EY Cambridge names associate assurance partner

Atkinson joined EY as a graduate in the Assurance team in 2010 and, over the last decade, has worked with a broad range of listed and privately owned companies across the East of England, London and Luton

EY has announced a senior appointment to its Cambridge office with the promotion of Chris Atkinson to the role of associate partner in Assurance.

Across the UK, EY said it has strengthened its partnership with 103 new equity partners. This includes 65 new partner promotions, which is the firm’s largest intake of home-grown talent in the last 10 years, along with 38 external hires. EY now has 781 partners across the UK.

The firm added that the promotions reflect its “increased investment” in its sectors, service lines and regional business, including in areas such as financial services, energy and sustainability, and technology, to “better support clients at a time of unprecedented change and challenge in the UK and worldwide”.

Atkinson joined EY as a graduate in the Assurance team in 2010 and, over the last decade, has worked with a broad range of listed and privately owned companies across the East of England, London and Luton, notably in the technology and biotech industries.

He is responsible for managing “complex” audits and delivering “consistently high levels of audit quality” across the East of England.

Stuart Wilkinson, office managing partner at EY in Cambridge, said: “Chris’ promotion will help to further strengthen our presence across the East of England, and the range of services we are able to provide to companies.

“We are continuing to invest in the region, despite the challenges of the global pandemic, welcoming several new Partners and other team members to the Cambridge office. This reflects a commitment to invest in our regional business as we build sustainable long-term growth and support our clients as they rebuild post pandemic.”

He added: “I’d like to congratulate Chris on reaching this important career milestone. I look forward to working with him to build our capabilities in the region.”

Atkinson said: “I’m delighted to take the next step in my career at EY. The East of England has a dynamic and diverse business community, which I’m proud to be part of. I look forward to supporting the growth of the Cambridge-based team across all levels of the firm.”
