AAT qualifications included in government skills programme

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) has announced that its qualifications have been included in a new list of almost 400 fully funded courses, as part of the government’s new Lifetime Skills Guarantee programme.

AAT’s level 3 advanced diploma in Accounting and advanced certificate in Bookkeeping are both included as part of the new offer.

The fully funded courses are available to adults aged 24 or over seeking their first level 3 qualification, and will be open from April 2021. A level 3 course is equivalent to a technical certificate or diploma, or two full A-levels.

Steven Drew, head of Markets and Products, AAT, said: “AAT is a great way to start a career in accountancy or bookkeeping.  Our qualifications are one of the few non-graduate entry routes into the accounting profession and are open to anyone regardless of age, school qualifications or background.

“That’s why we’re delighted that our Level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting and AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping qualifications have been included in the list of courses that will be fully funded through the National Skills Fund from April 2021.”

He added: “These courses will help adults improve their job prospects and meet the needs of the economy, and it’s great to see the benefits of lifelong learning through qualifications including AAT being recognised in this way.

“This investment will help even more people around the UK who want or need to reskill to do so at any stage of their life and career, and give them access to wider opportunities to help them succeed in a rapidly changing business environment.”
