ReSolve, the boutique business advisory, restructuring and investment practice, has appointed James Dowdall as a partner, specialising in Deal Advisory.
Resolve said Dowdall is an accomplished turnaround, transformation and restructuring practitioner with over 15 years of experience in the space. He has “extensive” experience working with management teams to raise finance, overcome operational issues and ultimately deliver business growth, including advising clients on debt restructuring options and supporting negotiations with lenders and creditors.
Most recently, he worked at WayPoint Change Limited as a partner, where he provided turnaround, restructuring and advisory solutions to clients across a broad range of sectors and requirements in the UK and across EMEA.
Dowdall also worked at Barclays for six years as a vice president, where he was responsible for restructuring mid-sized corporate clients experiencing financial distress and advising them through pre-packs, moratoriums, administrations and Compulsory Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs).
He also held the roles of deputy sector head in the Risk division at Santander as well as global relationship director at HSBC.
As partner at ReSolve, Dowdall will seek to further enhance ReSolve’s transactional offering, which includes debt refinancings and equity capital raisings. He will also assist on AMA processes and in growing the restructuring service line.
Dowdall said: “I am very much looking forward to joining a dynamic and exciting company like ReSolve and working with the expanding team to help UK businesses navigate this challenging and uncertain macro environment and achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.”
Cameron Gunn, ReSolve senior partner, added: “We are thrilled to be welcoming James to ReSolve and to have his expert knowledge in the restructuring and turnaround space onboard. His vast experience will be a fantastic addition to the team at a time when UK businesses are facing a flurry of headwinds.”
