Buzzacott has announced the appointment of David Stears as the head of its newly-established valuations service.

Stears has over 15 years of experience performing valuations within the valuations teams at Smith and Williamson, BDO and Menzies, before most recently setting up and leading the in-house valuation specialism for the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

Under his leadership, the team will provide valuations of shares, businesses and other financial assets for a range of purposes, including share schemes, management and financial reporting purposes, and as an independent expert in court proceedings and shareholder disputes.

According to the firm, the new valuation specialism is an important addition to the firm’s corporate finance team, as it will provide a more “comprehensive and joined-up” service to its clients.

Stears said: “I’m delighted to be joining the team here at Buzzacott. I’ve had the pleasure of working on some very interesting projects already in the short time I’ve been here, including valuations for deal advisory, growth shares, and portfolio assets.

“I’ve also been very impressed with the wealth of knowledge and experience within the corporate finance team and the firm more widely, and the commitment to providing clients with both new insights and meaningful outputs.”

Matt Katz, head of corporate finance at Buzzacott, added: “We are thrilled to have David on board to lead this new specialism. His experience and expertise make him the ideal candidate to drive the success of our valuations service, which will further complement and expand the existing offering the team can provide.”
