Business advisory and accountancy firm Cowgills has announced that it is opening new offices in Liverpool and Manchester.

The group reports that while the firm’s head office will remain in Bolton, the 28-person team in Manchester is moving to Annex on Quay Street and taking the 3,700 sq ft space on the first floor.

The move from ABC comes after the team reportedly doubled in size in just two years, with further recruitment across corporate finance, tax and audit planned in the coming months.

It is reported that the Grade A workspace has been designed to ensure a “boutique” finish specification and includes custom-designed booth seating, an indoor garden feature and multi-functional audio-visual presentation and video conferencing.

The team will move into this new office space in January 2023.

Meanwhile in Liverpool, Cowgills has taken 1,400 sq ft on the second floor of Bruntwood’s Grade II-listed Cotton Exchange in Liverpool’s commercial district, having also outgrown its existing space.

The office had first opened on Chapel Street in 2021 with a team of just four business recovery specialists. It now has 18 employees across all disciplines including business recovery, tax, audit and accounts.

In addition, Cotton Exchange features a private roof garden and event space, bike storage, showers and changing facilities. The Liverpool team will move into the new space later this month.

Cowgills currently has 230 employees with 19 partners.

Paul Stringer, partner at Cowgills, said: “Investing in first-class facilities for our people and clients is a clear indication of our continued commitment to the region. The north west is where Cowgills originated almost 40 years ago and our roots remain firmly here in the place where our clients are predominantly based.

“Having superb facilities for our people is essential, not just for their health and wellbeing, but to ensure that we continue to recruit and retain the very best talent. With offices in these key northern cities, we are able to provide a full service to clients regardless of where they are based across Lancashire, Manchester and Merseyside.”
